Position Description

The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga seeks a creative, community-oriented communicator to support its Communications and Donor Services teams in their work to advance the Foundation’s philanthropic impact and grow a community of donors who are passionate about making a difference in Chattanooga. Together with our community and partners, the Community Foundation transforms generosity into lasting change toward a prosperous and just Chattanooga where all can thrive and achieve our full potential.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Foundation’s Donor Services team to develop resources for donor and staff education about local philanthropy and grantmaking;
  • Take the lead in creating donor-focused content development across the Foundation’s various digital channels, including website, email, and social media;
  • Update and create assets, materials, and presentations for various internal Foundation clients and departments;
  • Support Strategic Initiatives & Communications Director in Foundation projects, press releases, campaigns, newsletters, and other Foundation materials;
  • Coordinate events that support the Foundation’s community and donor engagement goals;
  • Assists VP of Donor Services to facilitate high quality donor engagement, including conducting grantee research for donors and providing support and agenda preparation for donor meetings;
  • Manage Foundation assets and brand (e.g. photos, brand materials, etc) consistent with the Foundation’s brand guide and policies;
  • Create and collaborate with Philanthropy team to create materials and presentations tailored to local professional advisors;
  • Maintain, coordinate, and communicate engagement project timelines and deliverables, and
  • Contribute to the development of effective strategies to engage donors and our broader local community in alignment with the Foundation’s goals outlined in our strategic plan.



  • Bachelor’s Degree and the equivalent of at least two years of prior experience are preferred;
  • Very strong writer and excellent communications skills, including a proven ability to edit, proofread, and publish content to a content management system;
  • Knowledge of philanthropy and the non-profit community are a strong plus;
  • A demonstrated interest in community, civic issues, or the local non-profit ecosystem;
  • Ability to thrive when working independently, managing several different projects and respective deadlines simultaneously;
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and after-business hours as needed;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, colleagues, and community leaders, and
  • Demonstrated commitment to service, excellence, and discretion with highly sensitive and confidential data.

Salary & Benefits 

$50,000 - $60,000

Excellent benefits including paid medical, dental and life insurance; 403b and generous leave time.
